The Mayor of Nansana Municipality, John Bosco Kaana Kambata, has unveiled a cross-party executive committee, bringing together leaders from different political backgrounds in a move he says is intended to promote unity, accountability and improved service delivery.
The committee was approved during a council sitting, where councillors unanimously endorsed appointments to key leadership positions, including Deputy Mayor and committee heads responsible for finance, education, health and other critical sectors.
Speaking after the approval, Kaana Kambata said his administration would prioritize the interests of residents above partisan politics.
“I am ready to serve all the people of Nansana without discrimination. Leadership is about delivering services to residents and not about political parties,” he said.
The appointments reflect an inclusive approach to governance in one of the country's fastest-growing urban centres. Although Kaana Kambata was elected on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, he included members from other political parties in his executive team, a decision that received broad support from councillors.
Among the appointments, Prossy Kirabo was named Deputy Mayor, while Ivan Kigwe of the Democratic Party (DP) will oversee Finance and Planning. Aisha Nasuna of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) was appointed to coordinate Education and Health affairs.
The mayor said the diversity of the executive committee demonstrates a shared commitment to serving residents regardless of political affiliation.
He challenged committee members to uphold integrity, professionalism and accountability while carrying out their responsibilities.
“The people of Nansana expect results. Anyone who fails to perform their responsibilities will be held accountable, and I will not hesitate to take action as provided for by the law,” Kaana Kambata warned.
He also urged the newly appointed leaders to align their work with national development priorities and focus on initiatives that directly improve the welfare of residents.
“Let us work together to transform the lives of our people and become an example of good leadership. Our focus should be on service delivery and development,” he added.
The newly elected committee members pledged to work collectively in the interest of residents and put aside political differences in pursuit of development goals.
Their commitment marks the beginning of a new administration that seeks to foster cooperation across political divides while addressing the growing infrastructure, service delivery and governance needs of Nansana Municipality.
As one of the rapidly expanding urban centres within the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area, Nansana faces increasing pressure to improve roads, drainage systems, waste management and other public services needed to support its growing population.
The new executive committee will be expected to play a central role in delivering on those priorities and translating the mayor's pledge of inclusive leadership into tangible improvements for residents.
